Film Music Composition - Exploring music applied to images

This course is above all there to make you want to play bass, let it be fun! It will be based on the practice of the instrument, on the understanding and the role of the bass. The theory will be based on the progress of the practice. Step by step, practice and theory will thus be complementary, and will necessarily be useful! For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.

Getting going with music making can be an overwhelming thing, but it doesn't need to be! Whether you're a complete beginner looking to start making your first few tracks, a music producer trying to expand your theory and composition abilities, or a composer attempting to dive into the world of audio production, these classes will be tailor made to support your needs and develop your abilities. Since 2021 I have been a private bass tutor, teaching face to face and online. I can help you build a strong foundation for any musical genre. Most of my students pursue bass as a hobby or a creative outlet, writing songs or performing in bands. I have also helped players prepare for Trinity Rock & Pop or GCSE exams. I provide written notes and video material and can help you organize your practice time. I set aside 30 minutes of prep time per lesson, which can also be used to transcribe and film tutorials for songs of your choice. I encourage all my students to apply the skills they learn in their own personal way. You will get enjoy what you learn very soon. Your lessons will be simple and practical, with a healthy mix of technique, knowledge and repertoire, along with the basic music theory you need to get by.

The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. A music class aims to master the musical language without leaving fun aside. Musical education arouses enthusiasm and curiosity by tuning from the student's particular objectives to the singularities of repertoires that dialogue beyond the barriers of already conditional aesthetic currents. Teaching music is continuous learning, but instruction can become disadvantageous when there is no stimulus to encourage good habits. For these habits to be established, skills and techniques are explored during classes that aim to awaken listening, in this context, practice is an ally of imagination, learning an instrument is not treated as a monotonous activity, as a curated musical practice invoked by improvisation and creativity, essential tools in the construction of the different scenarios of music making.

My lessons are aimed at teaching a method that can allow student's autonomy in using Max/MSP programming language and the Gen/Gen~ environment. The neophyte can benefit from a practical method, which focuses on the constant exchange between theory and practice; the advanced student will benefit from the refinements of their practice in patch design. Ideally, the student will be able to be independent in some months. Students can expect partial covering of DSP topics for music. If needed, a specific lesson can be requested. Students are invited to present their works and patches, and can expect to discuss them in detail. Students are expected to be present for each scheduled class, not late, and to avoid a rude or disrespectful behavior. DISCLAIMER I am learning Dutch as for September 2024.
