With major camera brands shifting their product focus to accessibility within the last few years, now more then ever is the perfect time to learn the craft of Digital photography. This class will be the foundation for all the knowlage and skill you will need to purchase, use, and master using a digital camera in 2025. We will go over the basics including grammar and vocabulary slowly developing a strong lexicon of photgraphy terms. Also covered will be the basic operation of the camera as well as going over the many different functions and buttons that will be used to take pictures. Included in this will be the different kinds of camera types, lens types, camera brands, and what might be the best fit for the student We will also cover the different ways and types of photography including sports, portraits, travel, and product photography and how to better refine certain skills to be used in these fields. By the end of the classes the student will be able to name and easily operate all the different buttons and functions on the camera as well as cultivating an introductory body of work to be shown to others, as well as having a deep knowledge and understanding of cameras, brands, and how to hone their skills as a digital artisan.

With such a vast accessibility to photography, how does one distinguish the difference between a "good" photo and one that might not be memorable? How can the way a collection of photos is selected, formatted, and sequenced give meaning? In this course, students will begin by learning the basic functions of a camera, including ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. A manual film or digital camera is required for the course As the class continues, we will discuss styles of photography, notable photographers in history, and how to derive meaning from your images. Instructor will provide constructive feedback on the student's work and will direct the course based on the student's unique interests and style.

Whether online or in person, the training will begin with an overview of the history of photography, followed by theoretical lessons on composition. To understand how a camera works and the depth of an image, you must observe and practice again and again. As a photographer, your aesthetic sense will develop through both practical and theoretical exercises. I have all the necessary equipment, in case you don't have your own camera. As an artist promoted by institutions such as Paris Photo and Alfred la Tour, I will accompany you throughout your creative process to help you refine your aesthetic sensibility and best meet your expectations as well as those of your future clients. I also offer training on all of the following software: • Photoshop: image correction, retouching, editing and processing • Illustrator: proficiency in the software and typography • InDesign: layout design, microtypography, graphic coordination and integration between different software programs; history of the publishing and printing industry • Premiere Pro: video editing, tips and pitfalls to avoid, how to create a harmonious and effective edit, and mastering the software.
