It explores various aspects of sociology and provides a rich understanding of social structures and institutions and their impact on human behavior and the organization of society. The course follows the same lines as my textbook (which can be found on Amazon in French and English). The course is organized into 14 modules as follows: 1. Introduction to Sociology 2 . The Origins and Development of Sociology 3 . The History of Sociology 4 . Theoretical Perspectives in Sociology 5. Research Methods in Sociology 6 . Socialization and Identity 7. Social Structures and Institutions 8 . Social Stratification and Inequality 9 . Culture and Society 10 . Sociology of Religion 11 . Deviance and Crime 12 . Social Change and Social Movements 13 . The Future of Sociology 14 . Conclusion: A Reflective Journey Through Sociology Every time, the teacher starts by presenting the topic. The students are required to take notes. Then, we start the questions and answers to ensure the students understand what was said. Then, we summarize, and that ends the session. NB: There will also be a distribution of references for further reading on the subject. Overall, the course provides a theoretical foundation for understanding key sociological concepts and their application to analyze and resolve societal complexities. What are the sessions about? The sessions are to work on conversation in English through topics and content of psychology, well-being and self-help. The presentation is designed so that the person shares their comments on several occasions and elaborates responses using common vocabulary, improving conversation, fluency, vocabulary, and pronunciation. The content is on positive psychology topics, where tools for life are acquired through information and reflection exercises. Breathing techniques, mindfulness, gratitude, habits, resilience, flow state, resistance to change, and more are mentioned and used. Why use positive psychology content? According to several studies, including a study conducted by Cambridge in 2022, the best method to learn a language is through immersion (exposure and engagement). This means that when we learn topics or activities that interest us, the brain activates the prefrontal cortex, the striatum, the limbic system, and the hippocampus, which are the areas of long-term memory, motivation, concentration, reward, and emotional experience. These functions together create greater receptivity to new information. It is about talking about topics that motivate and interest us to enhance learning. They are also life tools that benefit us all. The more a person opens up to talking and reflecting on their personal experiences, whether positive or negative, the more they will be able to handle life's difficulties and improve their well-being. What level should I be at? Once you understand the written and/or spoken language, and can say the basics, we can start working. It doesn't matter if your level is basic, since that's exactly what the sessions are for. When you try to create a statement with interesting content, the areas of the brain that promote learning are activated. Here, through the chat, pronunciation and grammar are corrected, new vocabulary is added, and the correct way to say what is desired is taught. The person is asked to repeat the statement "correctly" and that's how learning takes place. How long will it take to see changes? Issues that require further exploration and/or external help will be referred to a therapy or a professional as appropriate. By what means can I take the session and how many frequencies do I need? Most sessions are via Zoom. The teacher will send you the link via WhatsApp or email and at the time of your session you can access it via a device. It is recommended once a week if the session is individual. You will notice that they are very complete and you may be a little tired after the session, if you are not very familiar with the language. If the session is in a group of two or more people, it can be once or twice a week. We will talk about many interpersonal topics in the session and we may follow up during the week by sharing relevant content via WhatsApp and voice notes, also in English for both parties to continue practicing fluency and vocabulary. It can be in person in Monterrey, Nuevo León in groups of 3 or more, or within the Republic for workshops.

I already had a few lessons with Sanghee and I can definitely recommend her! Her patient and interactive teaching style work very well together with her well planned, organized lessons and her nice personality. Her classes are completely in Korean so that in itself teaches you a lot and will improve your speaking abilities immediately, especially if speaking in Korean is still difficult for you. If you don't understand something she of course will switch to English. The homework also keeps my study drive going and I already have the feeling that I can express myself better in Korean. :)
