I have been playing trombone for 12 years and have a wealth of experience in performing across a number of genres and styles including orchestral, wind band, marching band, brass band, jazz, and function groups. Being a military musician, I have played at a variety of venues and prestigious events. This has included the Royal Albert Hall, playing for the Queen at Holyrood Palace and I have also performed alongside celebrities. I offer friendly and professional tenor trombone lessons for all levels regardless of your age. We can work together to find a routine and format that suits you whether that be the initial basics of the instrument (like holding or sound production) or if you are working towards specific grades/exams/goals. Each student is different and I aim to adapt to your personal situation. I have preferred books, methods, and techniques that I use, however, I will always cater to what my students want to achieve. This doesn't refer only to professional but includes amateur and passionated students interested about how to gain more music knowledge. Music is one. there's no differences between its styles. Learning it means learning about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses and the class will be self designed for the student starting from his/her desires. moreover music will be researched eventually from its main topic such as improvisation, time feel, resonance and intonation for brass , harmonic knowledge and music theory.

Learning to sing doesn't always have to be a frustrated dream, we can all do it well, either as a hobby or because we want to be professionals. My name is Catalina and I am a singer, I teach other people because connecting through music is my passion. I always work the classes under two principles: 1. Keep the class light and fun. 2. That everything in class is understandable and clear (if I have to repeat 80 times, no problem). Methodology of the classes: Classes can be taught at my home, the student's home, or virtually. In the first class, a repertoire of approximately 2 or 3 songs is defined, which correspond to the student's taste as well as the vocal challenges they face, and an evaluation of strengths and challenges in learning is made. In general all classes are divided into 3 parts: 1. Body warm-up (stretching, breathing exercises and activation of important muscles for singing). 2. Vocal warm-up through exercises to strengthen agility, tuning, phrasing and support. 3. Repertoire work where each of the details of the song being sung is reviewed, paying special attention to the most difficult parts of the song. I have been fortunate to be able to teach children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

Piano: “Hannon” is one of my basic training books, practice your finger fast, train your keyboard sensation, make you able to play scales. I usually play a few bars to let students imitate my playing, it will help students play the correct music theory lines, and let students get satisfaction, feel motivated to learn piano. I offer professional Brass instruments (Bariton, Tenorhorn, Euphonium, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba) lessons for children from the age of four, for teenagers and adults. Whether beginner or advanced, that doesn't matter to me. Every motivated student of trumpets is welcome with me. I see it as my job to promote the particular character of each student. Playing the trumpet is an art that is difficult to explain. To become a good Brass player, you need more than “just” to master your instrument. Practice is a basic requirement. Young Brass students, children in particular need the support and support of their parents in the learning process, but the joy in the practice lessons should not be left behind. The focus of my lessons is on conveying musical understanding, sound technology and music literature from classical to klezmer to jazz. Elements such as transpose, orchestral replacement and sight reading are also taken into account in the lessons. I accompany the students as they prepare for competitions and auditions. Classical - Jazz - Pop From the age of 7, I trained as a classical trumpet player, and then developed an interest in jazz at 13. I have a Bachelors in Classical music from London, and a Jazz Bachelors and Masters from the Netherlands. You can therefore feel confident that no matter what your interest may be (perhaps you don’t even know yourself yet), I can give you high quality training in your own interests. What to expect- Beginners For beginners, I take the time to let you get acquainted with the trumpet, learning repertoire, simple theory and technique, gradually moving to more advanced studies and incorporating jazz into the equation. Jazz Basics My jazz lessons start with the basics - learning simple music theory and harmony, the appropriate scales and getting a taste for the jazz language, common repertoire and the tradition. Challenge As you advance, we will explore more challenging rhythm, harmony and melody. Learning musical transcription (the process of writing down sounds on to paper) is crucial for development and also covered in lessons as well as mental-practise. For trumpet players the true key to success. Of course, my lessons are always friendly, relaxed and personal! Intermediate - Advanced My lessons consist of trumpet technique, i.e gaining the facility to be able to meet the demands of professional trumpet playing and the knowledge to deal with the daily struggles of what is essentially a very a demanding instrument. Breathing Embouchure This of course includes breathing, posture, embouchure, articulation, long tones, sound production, flexibility, finger dexterity, endurance, scales/arpeggios, sight-reading and ear training. It is important to develop everyday fundamental routines: keeping in shape, as well as devising formalised structures within trumpet practise. The often heard phrase goes - it's not how long you practise but how and what - which is incredibly relevant to trumpet players. Flexible and able to travel I live in the Hague and teach from my apartment, but am happy to travel to another location if it’s convenient! Home lessons in Delft may be arranged. I am happy to give advice and accompany you to a music shop, to ensure the choice you make is right for you. About Laurie Born and raised in the colourful and vibrant seaside city of Brighton (UK), Laurie began playing the trumpet aged 7 and grew up playing in the local Brighton and London music scene. He studied classical music at Royal Holloway University of London where he graduated with honours and won the Dame Felicity Lott award for performance in 2014. Since then he has resided in the Netherlands playing and studying with many musicians from the Dutch and European jazz scene. In 2016 he graduated from Codarts Conservatory Cum Laude having studied formally under the Dutch jazz-master Jarmo Hoogendijk amongst others. In 2018 he graduated with a master’s degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam receiving the highest mark ever to be given by the department. As a band-leader his quartet received 3rd place at the Leiden Jazz Competition in 2016 and in the same year made an appearance at North Sea Jazz Festival. In 2018, his quintet was selected as finalists of both the Keep-an-Eye Jazz Awards and the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition. To date he has made numerous appearances at jazz venues and festivals in and around the Netherlands and currently resides in The Hague (NL) teaching students, giving performances and making music with friends.
