This class is designed for GCSE and A-Level music students eager to develop their composition skills in line with exam requirements. Each session will offer practical exercises and guided tasks tailored to exam criteria, encouraging students to build confidence and express their unique musical voice. Through regular feedback, constructive discussions, and assignment of relevant exercises between lessons, students will gain a deeper understanding of music theory, harmony, and instrumentation to enhance their compositions. My goal is to challenge students to think independently and to prepare them thoroughly for the composition components of their music exams, all within a supportive and engaging online environment.

Sign up for a band playing lesson as an individual instrumentalist, and you will be paired with other like-minded musicians to form a band. I will pair musicians of similar levels and who share similar musical interests together. We will meet once or regularly based on the students availability, and will go over the basics of what it means to play in a group, put a repertoire of music together, and take your musicianship to the next level. Too often when learning an instrument, we fail to do what is ultimately the end goal of these long hours spent practicing : making music with others. This is also a great opportunity to meet fellow musicians and share your passion with others. Composition is one of most exam boards requirements for GCSE and A-level Music. In particular, to write a piece ranging from 2 - 3 minutes in length for either solo or chamber groups of instruments. I am majoring in composition at university and I specialise in tutoring music for students taking GCSE and/or A-level, having studied and taken these A-levels through the AQA Exam specification. Composition may appear overwhelming and it is my aim that my students will be able to find the beauty in writing music and being able to cope with the stresses of writing music; by equipping them with both the necessary skills of writing music, but also how to push through the various challenges that come with it (And perhaps most importantly, how to achieve excellent marks for your coursework)!
