Learn to Play (Jazz) Saxophone! Highly-personalized lessons that focus on the student's individual progress
Hello fellow musician!
Have you ever dreamed of becoming a saxophone player?
Wheter you are trying to become a jazz improviser, or you have just started familiarizing with the instrument, I can teach you how to:
- be able to produce a beutiful sound;
- use music theory as a practical way to play correctly over changes;
- maximize the outcome of your practice-time;
- master the technique on your horn.
As a student, I often found myself struggling with resolving a particular set of problems. I was constantly confronted with higher-levelled players, wondering whether I would ever become able to express myself as they did through their music. Having been studying jazz for many years, I experimented with a lot of different learning methods, only to find out that music improvisation is something that is mainly acquired in very personal, differentiated ways. One of the most interesting things I experienced as an educator, when encountering students who shared my own past insecurities, doubts, questions, and struggles, was getting to understand a part of the person in front of me; and to find new ways to help grasp and internalize a theoretical or technical concept that could then enable them to formulate a more coherent musical idea. Even if every student is a unique individual, thus responding to different educational methods, I think that, over time, I was able to identify a red line around which I could create a method that can be beneficial to the majority of aspirational players.
For the past few years, I have been giving private instrument lessons to jazz players with varied backgrounds and experience.
My educative career consists of a traditional classical, MA in classical saxophone (Conservatorio G. B. Martini, Bologna), a BA in jazz saxophone (ibid.), and a BA in jazz saxophone called New York Jazz Bachelor at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, where I am now attending a Jazz Master program.

About Me
I believe in creating a strong relation between teacher and student.I love this music and what it allows: to be able to express the ideas hidden within each one of us; I truly believe that everyone has something beautiful to say!
The best teachers I had showed a genuine interest in my learning process, being able to pinpoint my progress and to address my weaknesses. I share with other people my knowledge in this same way, always reminding myself that the student in front of me is first of all an individual with his/her own strenght and desires.
Education
I graduated with a MA in classical music at the Conservatory GB Martini in Bologna, Italy. There I continued my education obtaining a BA in jazz in the same institution, followed by a second BA with the New York Jazz Program at the Prins Claus Conservatory, Groningen (NL).Through my journey I had been very lucky, being able to study with incredible musicians and educators like Barry Harris, David Binney, Mark Gross, Melissa Aldana, Max Ionata, Don Braden, David Berkman, Joe Locke, Michael Moore, and many others.
Experience / Qualifications
I have been studying music for the last twenty years, and I keep doing so with passion.I performed for years in Italy both in classical and jazz context: I sat as an alto and baritone player in opera theathers, music halls and festival stages. As soon as I started studying jazz, I attended numerous big bands as first alto. Lately I met the tenor saxophone, and I haven't left it since then!

First I found my instrument, then reed and mouthpiece came to me and now Sebastiano! He answered questions I had in mind before I posed them and made me play things of which I thought “ ah this is possible”
Very dedicated teacher and I am very happy that he is sharring his knowledge with me!
Sebastiano is a brilliant and exciting musician! His passion for the sax and his skills make him an excellent teacher, helping the student to acquire the right technique but also to develop his own style. Through his lessons I have gained great enthusiasm in this unique instrument. Thanks Sebastiano!
So far, I find the lessons with Sebastiano very inspirational. He is very clear, but also very passionate about music and has a clear plan of instruction.

Learn to Play Piano (Jazz, Accompanying, Songwriting, Music Theory)Hello there, ever since I was a teenager I have always admired musicians in small and gigantic stages alike, and have wondered how such marvelous magic could possibly be created from their fingertips. If you are reading this, then maybe you feel the same way towards the piano as I do!
I can offer myself to explore with you, with my experiences coming from jazz piano playing, how it works on the piano: basic playing skills, chords and how to voice them, playing solo lines, harmonic knowledge to write your own song, learning to read a lead sheet with only melody and chords, and so many more.
Here are some of the goals that you and I can work together to make it happen:
1) Learn to play your favorite tunes on piano or electric piano
2) Learn to accompany yourself while you are singing
3) Learn to play in a band setting
4) Learn to write and play your own songs
5) Learn the keyboard skills for your home production gears (i.e. MIDI keyboard controllers)
6) Learn to improvise on the piano
Now, a little bit about myself; the moment I decided that I should try for music came much later compared to my colleagues. I started very late, and thus had to come up with methods of teaching myself fast and efficiently. And I believe that my own experiences coming from the struggles I've had could be of help to you, to understand the task at the hand better and to come up with plans on how to handle them.
Still, at the end of the day, progress by itself would be not our ultimate goal; it would be to have fun sitting in front of the piano!
If you are interested, hit me up!

Bass and innovations, visual content, defi, web3, crypto, NFTs.
My experience is connected with several companies (MU Interactive, Simple Frame, Lightcraft, and ModulorVR as I did video editing / mapping, VFX, SFX, 2d / 3d animations, motion graphics). For ModulorVR I worked completely remotely as well.
I mainly work with After Effects (with Polish companies clients like MediaMarkt, Mediatech, ING etc), I studied Final Cut and Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere too) with my advertising school. Now I use Blender, Cinema 4d, p5.js or Processing too.
According to Gallup's teamwork testing, my top 3 talents are:
1. Strategy 2. Input 3. Empathy. I also gained a lot of experience with other industries, I worked with small or large teams, now I also study Dutch, I improve my communication by working with people offline.
Doing volunteer work for FITC (Future Innovation Technology Creativity), I personally met Beeple or Pak there. So naturally I got excited about NFTs, crypto or defi and now I'm even more obsessed with podcasts again. Before meeting Beeple or GMunk, I also listened to podcasts with them. And I studied art history to prepare for the future.
I made my first movies when I was a teenager, my visual workflows started with compilations about football... And that's how I made my first money (when I was 15 years old) with our international collective for SportsMaxTV. (completely remote) With Polish visual companies I worked as a video editor / video mapper or motion designer, and now I live in the Netherlands, so I become more communicative and sporty. Always learning is really important to me. I am not afraid of new things, innovations and to work smarter or harder.
Sincerely,
FR (Philip)

My formation is from classic piano, being that my main activity of study. I have played different styles aswell, from jazz to neo soul, and I also enjoy playing piano through midi and produce music. Lately I have been creating lo fi piano music so I think I can offer a wide range of different styles. I like to work listening the demands of my students, and not imposing repertory that doesn't come from the desire of the student, although I can offer some guidelines in order to make the progress of the student more organize and consistent.

How to play saxophone and the art of improvisation GroningenI think of myself as social musician. I mostly like to play sharing music with others. My first priority goes to having an interesting/charming/ resonant full sound. Then i work on how to connect your ears to your instrument so that you can play as simple as possible in a way that you can hear it before you are getting to play it on saxophone. We can also work on repertoire based on taste in music of your choice. If we choose some music that you like before actually studying it, this is a strong motivation for the student to go for it ! I am mostly an alto and tenor player but i can teach to any other kind of saxophone like baritone, soprano etc. My sound , technique and lessons are mostly coming from jazz music(blues ,swing , mostly American music of 20s-60s)
I assign homework after every lesson about the technique of the saxophone but also the possible tools of improvisation in music.
