Lessons of MAO / Recording / Home Studio / Mixing by a sound engineer in his studio in Brussels

Do you want to discover the world of recording studios or improve your skills in music production?
We can do this together in my studio or at your place.

I consider that we learn best by doing and I therefore try as much as possible to put you in control and to make you use your ears.
I adapt to your needs as well as to your level. If you have a specific project, we will use it to structure the course.

I have been a sound engineer for 10 years with experience in its various fields of application but also in teaching this knowledge. I teach both future sound engineers and curious musicians, or audiovisual enthusiasts wanting to demystify the audio part.

An example of the topics covered:
- Pre-production (how to properly prepare your projects),
- Recording (techniques, necessary equipment, in the studio or elsewhere),
- Editing,
- Mixing,
- Restoration,
- Choosing microphones,
- Mixing console,
- Studio equipment and connectors,
- Pro Tools and session management in general,
- How to behave during the recording session and deal with your customers,
- Advice for your home studio,
- Effects,
- ...

Author Composer Interpreter, I offer Music Creation Workshops at my home or by Webcam. Come as you are, and leave with a recorded song. No prerequisite level, we start from scratch: - INTERACTIVE COMPOSITION: Your ideas are transformed into music, choice of instruments, percussion, moods, musical style (Rock, HipHop, Jazz, etc.) If you play an instrument, record it, otherwise I am at your service (guitar, piano, bass etc.) - WRITING HELP: If necessary, support in writing songs or slams, we take the time to work on the text either before or after the music. If you've never written, I have tools from my writing workshops available) -RECORDING You record the voice directly, in one go or end to end, harmonies, effects etc ... LEAVE WITH A RECORDING on USB key or in a file. If you play an instrument, that you already sing, that you have more advanced projects, I suggest a follow-up with a reflection on your musical identity. Music Production Masterclass: How To Be An Electronic Music Producer
Bedroom producers form the bedrock that most of the electronic genres comprising today's musical landscape are built off of. With a desktop PC, laptop, tablet or phone and an internet connection, you have near-instant access to all the tools necessary to create sounds literally never heard before in human history. Never has it been easier for an aspiring artist to begin, master and hone their craft, be it a hobbyist looking for a cathartic outlet or a chart-topping, platinum-record-stacking industry giant. The issue is; making music's tough. And Digital Audio Workstations are scary. And writer's block is terrible. And music theory makes my teeth itch. With both a masters and bachelors degree in music technology, years of professional musical experience spanning a wide array of genres and applications and eyebrows that'll knock your socks off, I can walk you through everything you need to become an electronic music producer. I can show you advanced tips and tricks to make the most out of your DAW of choice, I can help you with grasping the musical theory necessary to take the stress out of composition, I can teach you how to eradicate the dread of writer's block, discover your own musical voice, and help you become one of the great composers of our modern era. The Beethoven's, the Mozart's, the Tchaikovsky's. Just a little more sleep-deprived, I imagine. Or I can just help you throw a beat together, whatever suits you. (As a seasoned mental health battler; I am available midday to midnight GMT for you night owls, and will happily cater to those uncomfortable with face-to-face online sessions. Neither a webcam nor a microphone is necessary, we can pretend it's a Twitch chat if you need. Don't stress yourself out of wanting to learn. Just be prepared for me to monologue about resampling until you interrupt me with an emote.)

Music Production, Audio Engineering and Songwriting Classes
I studied music production at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the mentorship of King James Britt, and at Abbey Road in London. I am well versed in most audio software (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro X), using all of these in a professional setting for over 5 years. Currently, I work as an audio engineer, mixing and mastering songs for clients as well as recording in major studios across the city, as well as working remotely for the studio that I started in Oxford (Lenka's Studios). I would love to help you reach your specific goals in Audio production and pass on my knowledge. Students can bring their works in Progress for feedback and to be worked on, or they can ask in advance to learn more about a specific area of audio production (For example, recording techniques for drums or piano, mixing techniques for live recordings or for electronic music). I have many years of experience in writing songs electronically, and for live instruments, for artists in the UK and the USA. If you want to learn more about songwriting, this is another area I would be happy to help with.
