This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the modern Greek language and culture. Throughout the course, we will focus on developing listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, using contemporary Greek culture as a reference. Various homework exercises will be assigned to assess students' progress, with particular emphasis on grammar, syntax, and spelling. The goal is to help students expand their vocabulary and effectively use it to construct grammatically accurate phrases and sentences. To accommodate diverse learning styles, we will explore different teaching methods, such as listening to songs, watching YouTube videos and listening to Spotify podcasts, reading excerpts from Greek texts, and utilizing online teaching tools like Mentimeter and Quizlet. The aim is to cater to the unique needs of each student and make the learning experience engaging and enjoyable. In this Latin course, I offer "Common Entrance at 13+" training (including scholarship papers) for those students who have studied Latin for one or two years, and would like to revise, do translations and read from fun books such as Minimus or So you really want to learn Latin. Plenty of cultural stories and mythology in the mix, besides battles and august men. A basic understanding of grammar (or willingness to learn) expected. Ideally, students ought to be doing Latin at school and preferably have a second language (a Romance language ideal for securing a higher grade).

I am a passionate philologist with a degree from the University of Ioannina, specializing in Modern Greek Literature and Poetry. With over six years of teaching experience in Ancient Greek, Modern Greek, Homeric Epics, and Greek Poetry, and three years of experience teaching Greek as a foreign language, I offer lessons that are both engaging and effective. Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice. I am a fully qualified Italian (native) and Latin teacher, and language enthusiast. I am currently teaching GCSE and A-level students in a Sixth Form College in Oxford, but I have taught Italian and Latin in Italian Lyceum high schools for two decades. The courses I offer include GCSE and A-level preparation, university admission preparation, university undergraduate courses, and Italian for adult learners (all levels). I hold a Laurea summa cum laude in Lettere (Italian and Latin Language and Literature) from the University of Verona, a PCTHE (two years) in 'Teaching Italian and Latin Language and Literature' from the University ‘Ca’ Foscari’ of Venice and a MA on Didactic of Italian Language from the University ‘Tor Vergata’ of Rome. My preparation and my long-term experience has allowed me to acquire and develop different language teaching methods so that my classes are tailored to suit the learning style of each student.

As a graduate with a BA in Latin and Ancient Greek and a MA in Biblical Hebrew, I offer private Latin, Ancient Greek, and Biblical Hebrew classes both for students who seek private tutoring and for those who wish to learn these languages even more in-depth. My classes a personalised according to the student's need: understanding school material, preparing for exams, or advancing language skill. In all instances, there is emphasis both on grammar and reading literature appropriate for the student's level. As opposed to the "memorise grammar rules and then babble them in front of the class" approach that was demonstrated by the infamous "Romanēs eunt domus" scene from Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", you will learn to feel the grammar, so that you will be able to use the different cases of Latin without even thinking about it, just like a native speaker! For this class we will be using the following books, depending on the learner's level: Hans Øreberg's "Lingua Latīna per sē Illustrāta" "Corderiī Colloquia" Erasmus Rask's "Colloquia Familiaria" John C. Traupman Conversational Latin for Oral Proficiency I will be the collocutor and I will answer the learner's questions and explain certain oddities solely in Latin (I will use a second language only when the situation calls for it) We will also engage in free-form conversations, discussions of the dialogues, of our life experiences etc so that the learner can apply what they learn to real-life situations and expand their vocabulary

I am currently a Classics student at Durham University, and achieved A*'s in Latin at GCSE and A-Level. I am knowledgeable about the OCR exam board and what they require, so can provide exam focused teaching or a more relaxed learning pace for all ages and abilities.
