My lessons are based on kindness and good humor, because in my opinion, music is above all a question of pleasure. I am a professional vocalist, performer, and voice instructor with a background in classical music and musical theatre. I have 10+ years of classical training and graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City with a B.A in Musical Theatre Performance. I offer singing lessons to people of varying ages and levels of expertise, from total beginners to more advanced vocalists. My lessons focus on helping you to develop or polish your technique (regardless of your preferred genre of music.) We will utilize exercises engineered to develop a strong, healthy phonation with minimal extraneous tension as well as strengthen breath support and control of the breathing mechanism.

My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!

My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education. My experience runs mostly in early and chamber music, nevertheless I also have the experience and knowledge of popular musical styles such as Latin-American folk, jazz and musicals.
