Trusted teacher: The current context requires us to have as little contact as possible... But the good news is that webcam lessons remain possible :) I come from Costa Rica and have lived in Belgium with my family for 10 years. Spanish is my mother tongue. I have a solid professional experience in the private, public and associative sector. I juggle with different methodologies depending on the context of the course and especially the objectives to be achieved. I taught at the university, at Ifapme, in the associative sector (training and remediation), within companies as well as to individuals with very different objectives such as studies, a move to Spain, a travel to Latin America or simply learning a new language for fun or sharing and improving knowledge in the context of group conversation tables for example... In any case, I manage to awaken the motivation and interest of my students thanks to a dynamic, creative and communicative approach. I am available weekdays and weekends, daytime and evenings. I can give private lessons to primary and secondary school students, to high school and university students and to professionals, beginners to very advanced, intensively or not, privately or in groups. I have a master's degree in economic and social planning with an emphasis on project management as well as a bachelor's degree in administration (National University of Costa Rica). Trusted teacher: Hello and thank you for visiting this website! I'm an established, qualified, and experienced violin teacher who has worked in London for the last 26 years. I'm now back in Belgium for some new musical adventures, as well as to meet new students. I welcome students from the age of four to adults. I have a real passion for transmitting my love of music, and I like to have a creative, playful and holistic approach to teaching. I also play the piano and often use it for aural training or to accompany my students (or do violin duets). I do believe that music is not just for competitions or exams but a skill for life that can bring tremendous joy, discoveries, friends and fun along the way. Learning an instrument is also a great way to foster different qualities such as patience, diligence, presence, resilience, deep listening and the ability to express and share our emotions with others. Having explored many different violin methods and styles, I take a different approach according to each student. I like to teach a solid classical technique with some scales, studies and pieces, but there are many different ways to make music enjoyable or find other paths depending on the student's goal. Although I was trained classically in Belgian Conservatoires and the Guildhall School of Music, I do like to teach a variety of music that is not just classical (Celtic, world, klezmer, jazz, tango, film music, pop...). I often encourage my students to compose or improvise freely. In the last two decades, I have led many youth orchestras and violin workshops and worked for many different primary and secondary schools in England. Francois not only works on my technique, but also musicality, efficacious practicing, and expanding repertoire. I just love Francois’s energy, his spirit, his kindness, his patience and his distinct method. He is a marvellous musician, teacher and he creates an environment that is welcoming and inspiring. He is very professional and responsive yet warm in his communication style. I enjoy learning from Francois and I always appreciate how positive and powerful his impact upon development of my musicality and techniques works with taking my own practice and cello playing to the next level. I would certainly recommend him to anyone who would like to learn cello. I am looking forward to and enjoying every lesson.

I am very happy to have found a teacher like François-Jean for my very first encounters with a cello. Not only he is very competent as a musician and teacher he also is multilingual and I enjoy my lessons given in my mother tongue German. Until now I had 3 lessons with him all of them fruitful, focussed and funny at the same time. I can highly recommend him for every person interested in cello lessons in Brussels.
