Piano lessons with experienced teacher - graduated Pianist.

My teaching method developed during 20 years of experience and thanks to my studies of Music Pedagogy and Piano Teaching during my Master's in Piano at Livorno's Conservatory.
I am currently a piano teacher in a British School and I prepared several students for ABRSM and Trinity College exams.
As a private piano teacher, I work preferably in my studio, on a beautiful grand piano Yamaha, but, if not too far, I am also available for lessons at the student's house.

My teaching is adapted to the skills and goals of each student. With beginning children, I aim at full musical development of the student (not just playing notes, but feeling the rhythm, singing, and expressing emotions through free improvisation); technically I don't work only at the finger position, but at the organic interaction arm-wrist-fingers, through simple exercises.
With adult or advanced students, I observe them, to suggest which type of repertory to work together, and which aspects of the technique might still need improvement.
I teach classically, through the learning of notes, harmony, and written music, but I teach also how to play songs with only chord symbols, and blues improvisation at a basic level.

Both with children and adults I aim at creating a joyful experience during the lesson, in which focus is gained in a playful way, finding each time the best practicing solutions to technical and musical difficulties. In this way, practicing at home becomes not another heavy duty to add to an already busy schedule, but repeating a creative, searching experience, that is never the same.

Books: the use of a method is often suggested in the first years. Later I advice classical pieces to be studied. Also, Pop or Rock songs that the student would like to perform are well accepted, if I think the student can afford them.

About Me

I was born in Faenza, in Italy, and loved classical music since my childhood. After graduating in Piano at Rovigo's Conservatory in 1998, I also did Chamber Music studies, graduating at the prestigious Imola's Accademia Pianistica. Later I discovered historically informed practice and historical instruments. This became a great passion and I decided to come to The Netherlands to study Fortepiano in the class of Bart van Oort at the Koninklijke Conservatorium of Den Haag. During many years of concert activity and the release of a cd (Schumann played on a Viennese fortepiano), I always kept teaching to students of any level, with great joy and pleasure. My biggest joy is to see how music (played or listened to) changes people's state of mind, and ultimately, their lives in better. So, my aim and devotion as a teacher is to make music accessible to everybody.
I love also nature, animals and singing, and many other things.

Education

1998 - Graduation in Piano at Rovigo's Conservatory ("vecchio ordinamento").
2002 - Graduation in "Conservation of Cultural Heritage - musical specialization" at Bologna's Athenaeum.

2009 - Piano Master graduation ("nuovo ordinamento") at Livorno's "P. Mascagni" Musical Institute.
2012 - Bachelor in Fortepiano at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Den Haag.

Experience / Qualifications

2002-2008: piano teacher at the municipal School of music "A. Contarini" in Russi (Ravenna, Italy).
2006-2007: Piano teacher at the basic course effected at the Musical Institute of Livorno for the Art Statal Institute of Pisa.
2011-2014: Piano teacher at The Hague's Virtuosi School of Music.
Since 2014: Piano teacher at The British School in The Netherlands (BSN) of Leidschenveen.

Concertistic activity as soloist and ensembles, with modern piano and fortepiano, in festivals like Ravenna's "Giovani in musica", Ravenna Festival ("Vespri di San Vitale"), Florence's "Accademia Bartolomeo Cristofori", Utrecht's "Oude Muziek" festival (fringe), Dordrecht's Bachfestival and Geelvinck Fortepiano Festival.

One-on-one lessons in classical piano playing. Old or modern music, everything is possible!
I have been playing classical piano for 14 years. Obviously a lot solo, but also in ensembles, as an accompanist for flutists, violinists, clarinetists and singers. I was also a paid rehearsal director and pianist for a music theater company for a while and I played concerts in an orchestra. More importantly, I also enjoy teaching! Whether you are just starting out or have been working for some time, together we can tinker with your technique and execution.

Classical piano lessons in Amsterdam, for children and adults
The class is offered to children and adults, who would like to discover the music world and broaden their understanding of this form of art. For children, it will be a nice, light, and creative journey since I spend quite a lot of time with kids of different ages. For adults, I could suggest either a fun way of learning or a deep and thoughtful approach to piano playing. I am flexible and open to the conversation! This also applies to the schedule, location, time, and the repertoire you/your child would like to play. Any wishes regarding the materials, goals, directions (etc.) of the class are welcomed and highly appreciated! Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your smile after the lesson! :)

Piano lessons for all ages! Beginners, intermediate, and advanced players are all welcome!
Hi! My name is Luís and I am a 3rd year classical piano student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. If you ever dreamed of playing the piano, I am willing to help you! In my lessons, I always try to engage students in an attractive experience, gathering their focus on the musical meaning of what they are playing, and avoiding being overly concerned about technical difficulties that might come up. For me, music-making has to be rather exciting and fun!

Jorge
Jazz, Classical, Pop and Theory Lesson for Beginners, Intermediate and Advance
Hi, I'm Jorge Fernández, a pianist with studies in Jazz and Classical music. During my courses we will concentrate on ensuring that through creativity, the development of a challenging repertoire and musical awareness, the student acquires the greatest number of tools possible in order to express themselves freely in this fascinating language such as music. For example: for beginners of child age I propose the Bastien method complemented with composition and improvisation exercises. In the case of more adult students, always try to adapt to motivating repertoires for them and complement that learning with analysis exercises and theory of those pieces or songs that are being studied. I recommend classes of one hour or more in order to carry out a course that is as complete as possible, not only based on interpretation but also on the understanding of musical language with theory exercises and ear training education.
