As an orchestral musician, I’ve performed with various national orchestras in Europe, including ensembles based in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Spain, and others. Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

The content of the lessons is adapted to the needs and wishes of each student. It is possible to follow a combination of music theory and instrument, or only focus on one aspect. Depending on the student's goal, the level, teaching method and music styles are adjusted and personalized in consultation. Together we will look at what your learning needs are and which method suits you best. As a teacher I am familiar with different styles, from classical music (baroque, impressionism, classicism, romanticism and contemporary music), to folk music, jazz standards, pop songs or minimalist music. There is also the option to work from improvisations. The lessons are suitable for all ages and levels, the personal profile of the student is central.

In addition to my professional career as a cellist, I also enjoy teaching violin lessons to everyone. Didactic has always been an important aspect of my life, growing up in the music school of my family where I started playing violin at 3 years old. I am a teacher with experiences in both private and public schools for children, teenagers and adults of all levels. We will learn violin technique, explore music theory and reading in order to have a full preparation for whatever your goal is. PLUS: Level 4 Suzuki Method Trained Teacher. Known as the “Mother Tongue Method”, Suzuki is specifically made to start the learning of music with children in a pre-scholar age from 3 years old, for the enrichment of all family! This course is for anyone who wants to learn reading music or improve their music theory skills. It is also intended for students in academies who want a support course. It is possible to work on hearing exercises (dictations, intervals), reading (7 keys if necessary), rhythm, singing and transposition for the most advanced students.

I am Cèlia, a Catalan cellist living in Antwerp. I studied for my bachelor's degree at the HKU Utrechts Conservatorium and my master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen. I offer cello and music theory lessons for all levels. I have several years of experience teaching children and adults in individual and group lessons. I adapt the content of the lessons to the level, needs, and goals of each student. I am a very enthusiastic person who likes working with people and making music. I speak Catalan, Spanish, English, and a basic level of Dutch.
