About Me

I am an economist from Universidad de los Andes and I have been teaching IB economics since 2014 in spanish and english and both HL and SL. I am also an experienced IB examiner in EE, IA and papers. I can help you prepare for your examination sessions, to improve your performance in economics class or to prepare your IA portfolio.

When tutoring private lessons I usually prefer to mix spanish with english if you are enrolled in economics in english, in my experience, it is better to explain in spanish with all terminology and examples in english. Usually as english is a second lenguage to students, they engage more and perform better when addressed in spanish or "spanglish". No issue with teaching fully in english however.

The main focus of my tutoring is preparing for the exam session, so I focus on tips and strategies and most common topics and questions which are most likely to be present in the exams. If you are struggling with the class at school, I can also help you to improve that performance, one-on-one teaching and learning experiences can be more appropriate for students who struggle with the subject.

Education

Economics B.A. from Universidad de los Andes, in Bogotá, Colombia. Several IB workshops cat 1 - cat 3 in economics and Extended Essays. Currently prusuing a Master's in educative innovation.

Experience / Qualifications

Teaching IB economics in SL and HL, spanish and english since 2014 at a private school in Bogotá, Colombia.

A Student’s Guide to History (GCSE, A LEVEL, HAT).
History is a challenging subject at both GCSE and A Level, both in terms of understanding and remembering the copious amounts of content as well as learning how to jump through the hoops of exam technique. This class is designed, by a former student who is now studying history at university, to assist in both obtaining the highest possible grade in history, but also to spread my passion for history and hopefully create a long lasting interest in my pupils. I am also able to help with other items which I studied at A Level, namely Religious Studies and Economics. In addition to this, I can provide assistance with the Oxford HAT test as I scored highly in it despite not being accepted.
