What are the sessions about? The sessions are to work on conversation in English through topics and content of psychology, well-being and self-help. This means that when we learn topics or activities that interest us, the brain activates the prefrontal cortex, the striatum, the limbic system, and the hippocampus, which are the areas of long-term memory, motivation, concentration, reward, and emotional experience. These functions together create greater receptivity to new information. It is about talking about topics that motivate and interest us to enhance learning. They are also life tools that benefit us all. The more a person opens up to talking and reflecting on their personal experiences, whether positive or negative, the more they will be able to handle life's difficulties and improve their well-being. What level should I be at? Once you understand the written and/or spoken language, and can say the basics, we can start working. It doesn't matter if your level is basic, since that's exactly what the sessions are for. Most sessions are via Zoom. The teacher will send you the link via WhatsApp or email and at the time of your session you can access it via a device. It is recommended once a week if the session is individual. You will notice that they are very complete and you may be a little tired after the session, if you are not very familiar with the language. If the session is in a group of two or more people, it can be once or twice a week. We will talk about many interpersonal topics in the session and we may follow up during the week by sharing relevant content via WhatsApp and voice notes, also in English for both parties to continue practicing fluency and vocabulary. It can be in person in Monterrey, Nuevo León in groups of 3 or more, or within the Republic for workshops.
