The viola is a wonderful instrument, it has a warm and passionate voice and is characterized by its sweetness and softness in both the low and high registers. Being an instrument that is not as comfortable as the violin, sound production in the viola needs special attention. In my lessons I try to increase in my students the ability to perceive and recognize the position of their body in space and the state of contraction of their muscles. We will talk about pure instrumental technique and make music together, but we will also speak about self-awareness, relaxation techniques and posture. Studying the viola can thus become a transcendental way to discover the potential of your body and mind.

My name is Lauren I am a violist and composer based in Schöppingen, Germany. I received my Bachelors Degree in Viola Performance at The Juilliard School in 2019, and have since taught music lessons online and in-person since 2013. I have experience teaching students of all ages, from 3-80. I teach classical music, improvisation, even electronics, if that is of interest. I always cater to the needs and interests of my students, creating an individualized lesson plan for them. I have studied Alexander Technique, and always emphasize the importance of physical health and comfort in my instrumental teaching. When teaching composition - I enjoy discovering the creativity of each student, helping them find their individual voice. I can teach Dorico Notation Software, Adobe Illustrator, Logic Pro X, and Ableton. I currently teach students internationally, and can accomodate other time zones. I offer violin lessons tailored to your desires. Open to all levels, for beginners or advanced players. A violinist for 20 years, I trained in baroque and classical music at a conservatory before developing different violin styles (oriental, Balkan, folk, South America, variety, film music, etc.) I could pass on to you one or more specific styles of violin depending on your project. You will be able to learn music that is close to your heart, and cultivate the pleasure of practicing. Learning by ear, without sheet music, is possible. One-off sessions dedicated to stress management, memorization and the methodology of your personal practice are possible if necessary. I would be delighted to support you with listening and kindness towards greater freedom of playing with your instrument.

I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too. Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire. I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.

As a teacher my goal is to bring out the best version of my students, using their individual strenghts, which are different for each of them. As a pedagogue, after one month experience in a meditation retreat in Thailand, my approach involves not only focusing on the technical development of the instrument but also paying close attention to the physical and mental well-being of my students. I also pursued a masters degree in Music Education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. I teach students of all ages and levels. I have thirteen years of teaching experience in the Netherlands and in Belgium ( privately and at music schools/muziekacademies). In my lessons I help the students to find a good contact with the instrument and cultivate a positive relationship with music by integrating the development of aural skills, sense of rhythm and an optimal body use, enabling them to connect with their musical imagination.
