Cello is not just an orchestral or chamber music instrument! Learn modern styles and techniques of playing cello, whilst also building a strong traditional technique. This is a good class for students who already have some music training and wish to expand their knowledge into performative or production areas - such a using loopstation, sound design on the cello, finding your 'voice' as an artist. Or simply for those who wish to explore music outside of traditional genres - learn how cello is used in genres such as electronic music, pop music or rock!

Graduated in singing, pop singing and computer music at the IMEP (Royal Higher Institute of Music and Education), I teach beginners, amateurs, as well as children, especially in a non-profit organization in the Namur region. Firstly, it is essential to put the student at ease and to understand what their desires are in order to be able to help them to flourish musically as much as possible. Hello, my name is Machiel, I am from the Netherlands and I live in Madrid. I've been a drum teacher for over 35 years. I graduated with honors at Musicians Institute in Hollywood California. I have always been very active as a professional drummer on stage in my home country The Netherlands, all over Europe and other continents. My teaching style is friendly, super patient and focused on the student. I am a well informed and know what it takes to help students on their journey to become better drummers. I wrote two drum instruction books that I use as a lesson plan for all my students. It's been developed for over 30 years now and it proved to be a successful method for hundreds of students. Garageband is a powerful Digital Audio Workstation that allows musicians and beginner producers to record a whole album if they wish. I'll teach you how to remake a song/piece of your choosing from the ground up. You'll use the inbuilt virtual instruments, your own voice, and your guitar/keyboard to rebuild your chosen track or give it your own unique stamp. Music production is a huge topic so I'll teach you the essential musical skills such as ear training, understanding rhythm and basic harmony. You'll learn basic recording skills using the iPad mic or an interface and we'll use virtual/real instruments to record the parts. You'll learn how to edit and I'll show you how to create an interesting song structure and how to layer multiple instruments so they don't clash! Finally, we'll look at mixing, effects, and EQ to give your track a professional polish!

We will tailor these sessions towards whatever areas of music production you desire. I can help up your skills in sound design, recording techniques, and composition.
