Nice to meet you! I am Julie, a private piano teacher since 2019 for beginners to cycle II. Currently I have 12 students, adults, teenagers and children from 4 years old! My goal is for my students to learn the piano while having fun, so that they become independent over time and can enjoy playing what they like. This is why I listen to everyone's tastes, while opening doors to registers that might not be those immediately thought of (classical, jazz, singing accompaniment, etc.). Also, music theory is a key point of learning that cannot be ignored if you want to progress. But knowing that it can scare more than one, I would like to point out that I do this in a very fun way by adapting to the level of capacity and age of each person: this therefore involves pieces, songs, and for the youngest, games that I make myself (memory, tables, human-sized mats, card games, writing, etc.). This allows us to suit everyone, and learning through all the senses (writing, listening, movement, memorization, etc.) is, in my opinion, a very relevant means. If the student likes singing, I also offer singing lessons and I teach them how to accompany themselves, so that they can ultimately accompany themselves on all the songs and have a lot of fun. My lessons last 1 hour, whether the student is an adult or a child. I can possibly teach at my home if necessary, but I usually go to the student's home. Also, the piano is a rather solo instrument. But loving sharing and conviviality, I offer in addition to solo pieces, pieces in 4 hands between students by level (which is in my opinion very beneficial from a technical and learning point of view). Finally, 2 auditions per year are planned in a nice room that I reserve with a beautiful grand piano, during which the students sing and play their solo and 4-hand pieces in front of their loved ones. I am a professional lyric soprano graduated from the CNSM of Lyon. I participate in productions with the Concert d'Astrée, the Choir of Namur, Accentus, the Opéra National de Lorraine, Choir de la Chapelle Harmonique. I am also on the lists of the Montpellier Opera, Concert Spirituel, Ensemble Correspondances and Radio France choir. I have just finished a production of Haydn's Die Schöpfung at the Opéra National de Lorraine last January-February, conducted by Marta Gardolinska (Guillaume Fauchère choir director), directed by Kevin Barz. I sang solo and in chorus the role of the Trojan woman in Campra's Idomenée in 2021 at the Lille Opera and the Berlin Staatsoper, staging of the fura dels baus, I also sang the solo of Campra's Requiem at the philharmonies of Luxembourg, Lille, Essen Cologne and Berlin with the Concert d'Astrée in 2019 directed by Emmanuelle Haïm. Electronic music, perhaps with its interdisciplinary nature, is a vast field to get into, a world of creativity and art, science and technology, and philosophy and thoughts. The course of electroacoustic composition (in other words computer-assisted composition) follows the interdisciplinary fundamentals of the topic. During these courses, we will speak and work on electronic music aesthetics and musical discourses, form and structure, and indeed the utils of using software such as Ableton, Max, Supercollider, VCV RACK, reaper et cetera, to be able to materialize the musical idea with electronic tools. Students can create and compose electronic music, sound designs, multimedia art (music and ... ), installations and performances, etc during and after the courses.

After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and a distinction in Fashion Communication which included my music playing at Central Saint Martins. I also have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.
