During my career in the US I was constantly writing essays for my classes, in addition to having to present projects in front of my teachers and classmates. At the same time, I was working at university and after graduating I worked for a year, mainly having long conversations on the phone with people from all over the country. Nowadays the ability to communicate in English is essential and I will prepare you so that you can meet your objectives. It could be studying abroad, going to live in an English-speaking country, improving communication in the professional field or practicing so as not to lose the level previously acquired. German is the most widely spoken mother tongue in the European Union and is the official language in seven countries. There are 7.5 million people in 42 countries who are part of a German-speaking minority. How many people have already learned German as a foreign language? 289 million! It is the total number of people around the world who have learned German at some point, according to a calculation by the Germanist Ulrich Ammon. Another question is, to what extent they have done it. Currently, 15.4 million people around the world learn German as a foreign language, 90 percent are schoolchildren and the remaining 10 percent are adults. How many words are there in the German language? More than you might think. German learners soon learn that two nouns combined make up a new word. This makes it difficult to count the total number. In 2013, Berlin philologists estimated a total of 5.3 million German words. In 2017, the editors of the Duden, the standard work of German spelling, calculated that today's German has almost 23 million words (in its basic forms alone). Writing: During writing courses, students will have the option to focus on essay writing, creative writing, and business writing. With creative writing, we will be enhancing skills in vocabulary, sentence structure, literary techniques, and plots (involving characters, settings, themes, and messages) to build fictional poetry, prose, novels, and plays. With business writing, we will be building and adapting resumes as well as learning how to write professional emails. Language Arts: During Language Arts courses, students will learn how vocabulary, grammar, and composition create effective arguments. This course will mainly focus on writing arguments through rhetorical, cultural, and contextual lenses. Additionally, students will be able to practice public speaking to improve their overall argumentative skills. Like an AP Language and Composition class, students will read nonfiction to develop an argument that explains ideas, argues a point, or persuades readers. Conversational: During conversational English courses, non-native English speakers will be advancing their understanding of the language. Students will be learning practical and conversational skills that improve vocabulary, conventions, and grammar. Lessons will cover reading, writing, and speaking for everyday life. As a tutor, I wish to tailor each of my classes to my students' interests and educational needs. Each lesson will be different from the rest and custom for each student, depending on their levels of proficiency.
