I have been teaching for 16 years now and this has always been part of my balance as a pianist. It is an activity that complements and stimulates my own activity as an interpreter and researcher. Student for many years and in contact with multiple piano schools, I have heart to convey what I received. I adapt to the motivations of each student.
My doctoral research project was access to instrumental pedagogy. I worked for 4 years on the piano technique developed by Mr. Durand (UdeM), based on a holistic organization of the act that aims to serve the sound expressiveness and minimize injuries. The importance of choosing a gesture adapted to the musical context, of mastering each body movement as well as its impact on piano mechanics, is the basis of this technique. This gestural approach, given at the Faculty of Music of Montreal and more generally in North America, places body awareness at the center of this technical approach to the piano.
