This way, in contrast to mindlessly learning everything by heart, you can remember things way more easily and apply them to any problem/exercise you encounter. Approach: When you ask me a question, my first goal is to try and understand exactly what it is about the topic that you don't understand. Then, instead of simply answering your question, I will ask you an easier version of the question back. In this fashion, I can help you to answer your own questions through helping you find the right path in your reasoning. Additionally, I try to approach the topic from different angles, with lots of real life examples. This way you also get an idea of the use of what you are learning, to give it a sense of purpose. My experience: As an active Civil Engineer, not only do I have profound knowledge of mathematics and physics, but I also have a good understanding of their use in practice. This can be a big advantage for students who don't understand why they need to be learning "all of this crap". Anne is a teacher that prepares her lessons in advance. You get a lot of attention as a student and I really felt welcomed from the first minute. Anne is very clear in her communication and organisation (and this also encompasses how she guides you towards the first lesson, making sure all is clear). It is clear that she has a profound knowledge of the Japanese language as well as the didactical methods to teach it. What I appreciated was her openness and the fact that you can shape the lessons to make them fit with your personal goals you have for studying Japanese, whatever they might be. I definitely recommend working with Anne!

Last year, at that the time my fiancé and I took waltz lessons from Carl for our wedding dance. It was a challenge to find dance lessons in Brussels because both of us are not Belgian and we don't speak either Dutch, or French. In addition, I am really not that good with rhythm when it comes to pre-set dances. Carl was very patient with us (me) and spoke to us in English. Not only he taught us how to dance waltz but also how to behave on the dancefloor as a couple. Everybody at the wedding was amazed of our waltz skills and they loved our wedding dance.

We focused the lessons on learning communication, rather than studying the language. We add the things we practice to a document, and he sends it at the end of the class. Even though I started from zero, he's been quite patient and kind. And by now, zero-stress with grammar/theory. After a month, I am starting to be able to have a simple conversation at a store without barely help of another language, and I am taking a liking of Dutch.
