Applications for Classics at Oxford and Cambridge both involve a language assessment, for which I provide expert tutoring and guidance in as a first-class Classics and English graduate from Oxford.
Classics at Oxford uses the Classics Admissions Test (CAT) for Course I (for students with Latin/Greek to A Level) or the Classical Language Aptitude Test (CLAT) for Course II (for students without Latin/Greek) to decide who will be invited for interview. At Cambridge only candidates shortlisted for interview will be required to take such assessment, which will be a translation exercise for the 3-year course, or a language aptitude interview for the 4-year. All assessments involve careful application of linguistic knowledge, whether of classical languages or English, which I will ensure you are extremely well-prepared to do.
Applicants are also required to submit two pieces of written work prior to interview, which I am able to advise about if requested.
I can provide expert tuition for all A Level English, History, and Classical CIvilisation subjects and exam boards. I am a friendly and engaging tutor who will help develop confidence in a course of 1:1 lessons -- particularly geared towards exam preparation.
Please also enquire if there is a specific topic or technique that you would like to focus on, as my teaching will always be catered to those needs.
I look forward to working with you!
