‘I’ve learnt more from Ondřej in 30 mins than with my teacher at college in 3 weeks.’

Abbie
Ondrej was quick to reply and had very good availability. He is a reliable, enthusiastic and focused trumpet teacher who was asked to help prepare my son for music scholarship auditions. He got the scholarship. Thank you for your help Ondrej.

Vera
I am an experienced amateur trumpet player and I have been studying with Ondřej in in-person as well as online lessons for over a year now. During this time, Ondřej has tremendously helped me to improve various aspects of my playing, such as breathing, repertoire, intonation, ear training, etc. In lessons, he creates a productive, friendly, and encouraging atmosphere and always finds the right explanation or exercises to help me with a certain technique or a difficult passage in a piece. I very much enjoy having lessons with Ondřej, he is an excellent teacher and I would highly recommend him to other students.

Tony
Ondřej is friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable. He has a teaching style that is encouraging and supportive, and I am very confident that with his help I will become a better musician.
Pavel/George
“ My son George started learning piano on a private basis with Ondřej in late 2019 to get prepared for his Nat5 Grade3 school piano exam.
Ondřej is friendly, polite, and very professional. He runs to time and communicates efficiently with me via email or phone if necessary. He has a holistic approach to teaching, which I found very helpful. Because it was a school exam preparation, Ondřej was very confident in communicating with George’s school directly.
The whole approach to teaching was relaxed and comfortable. I can see George is progressing and Ondřej seems to explained things clearly to him.
Unfortunately, our lessons had to finish due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in 2020 and also Ondřej’s relocation to a different city. However, George truly enjoyed his lessons and I’m pretty sure that it was something that gave him a real boost.
I can’t recommend Ondřej highly enough! “

Tim
Ondrej is a very approachable and fun teacher who inspires, guides and directs through appropriate exercises and techniques to get the best out of your instrument. My whole understanding of even the basics was reshaped so that I understood why and this allowed me to come on in leaps and bounds! I was put at my ease as I learnt how to hold and blow correctly, it was so much easier!, and we worked on the pieces I really wanted to learn. Highly recommend!

Ewan
For me being a returning learner, Ondrej has been a very patient, encouraging and positive tutor in every lesson we've had in the last two years. This has continued as our lessons have moved to online only.

Thanks to Ondrej's tuition I've grown greatly in both skill and confidence since picking up the instrument again, both playing with others in band settings and in personal practice. He is a very skilled tutor, with an obvious depth and understanding to his musical knowledge that he is able to explain and instruct in a very accessibe manner. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Gary & Zhanna
When relocating to Edinburgh, my wife and I were looking for a professional and experienced piano teacher for our two sons to continue with their piano lessons. Ondrej fitted this perfectly. Very professional, enthusiastic and importantly fun with the lessons for our sons. Our sons progressed very well in both scale practice and playing practice. Trying to keep two pre-teen boys interested is no easy task however Ondrej was able to make the lessons both interesting and fun and it was a joy to be listening to the beautiful music being played by them during their lessons. Our boys thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and were disappointed when we had to stop due to clashes with school curriculum. My wife and I would very much recommend Ondrej for any student / parents looking for a highly talented music teacher.

Harry
I found Ondřej to be a patient, knowledgeable and friendly teacher. As a complete beginner, I found Ondřej's approach fun and productive. Ondřej adapted the lessons to approach topics that I was struggling with and provided me with a good mix of practical and theory tuition. Ondřej is a really nice guy, I would definitely recommend him to others!

Kingsley
I started your lessons without any trumpet or music theory experience and felt intimidated by the difficulty of the instrument in the early sessions. However, providing technical tips such as lip position and breathing, as well as accompaniment with the piano really accelerated my ability to play and understand sheet music. I am very grateful for the development that one session a week could bring. I would recommend you to other aspiring trumpet players because you provide both a technical and musical knowledge of the trumpet. You also managed to tell when something wasn’t working for me and suggested personal tips that fitted my ability and playing style which helped a lot.

Pupil aged 15 (remaining anonymous)
Ondrej has been my trumpet teacher for the last 6 months. He has helped me develop a lot in that period, and has focussed mostly on developing my technique and tone and improving my posture. He has been happy for me to bring in music which I’ve heard and would like to learn as well as pieces which he has suggested. Most of all, I’d recommend him because he has got to know me as a person and we have a good relationship.

Ciaran
‘Having played for the past 12 years, but not picked up the instrument since January, Ondrej has been crucial in rebuilding my confidence and proficiency in the trumpet. Thanks to his extensive knowledge, experience, and approachable nature, he has helped me to re-establish a crucial technical basis for playing. His focus on the fundamentals of the trumpet have been hugely beneficial and I know will be invaluable, in future, in allowing me to play a wide variety of repertoire. The many new and interesting techniques and exercises Ondrej has provided, some of which I have never come across with other teachers, have made me think differently about the trumpet and how I play. Since starting lessons with Ondrej, I have seen real improvements in my playing on a weekly basis. Most importantly, however, he has helped me enjoy the instrument again.’

Music Tuition available in Piano, Theory, Composition and Orchestration
I specialise in advanced Classical and Jazz Piano, Composition and Arranging, as well as the fundamentals of Theory of Music for students commencing ABRSM Grade 5 and above. I offer substantial discounts for families and for bundles of 5 or 10 lessons. I have a well-equipped studio with a grand piano as well as other keyboards and music tech gear, and teach both online internationally and in-person for students living in Edinburgh. As many of my students are from Edinburgh university, where I also teach Orchestration and Screen Composition, daytime lessons can be flexible from week to week. My classes are helpful to students seeking to pass the higher performance and theory grade examinations, as well as to university undergraduates seeking to fill knowledge gaps and to explore composition and orchestration in greater depth. Students I have taught invariably achieve excellent results, as high as 144/150 in the ABRSM practical piano examinations, and as high as 100% in Theory of Music. I also teach Music Technology, specialising in Cubase DAW as well as Sibelius and Dorico scorewriter applications.

Nacho
Teacher of saxophone performance, music theory (including harmony and counterpoint) and music composition
I have instructed students of different age groups in saxophone performance and music theory (including counterpoint, harmony and composition) up until university level, in Spain and the UK. After graduating from Cambridge with a double starred first, taking into consideration my academic results and teaching experience, I have also been selected for inclusion in the Supervisor Registry to teach counterpoint and harmony papers. My approach to lessons is very flexible, and I always try to adapt to the needs and qualities of each student. I believe that communication is essential, and at the beginning of each lesson I ask my students if they found my recommendations from the previous lesson helpful and how they see their progress. After this spoken introduction, we proceed to work on some warm-up and technical exercises. Then, we play some studies and pieces, or go over some music theory exercises, trying to apply the advice from the previous lesson and make further improvements. Finally, we conclude the lesson with a summary, listing the main key points and suggestions and comparing our experience to the previous lessons, trying to find a clear sense of progression and a coherent line of work towards a certain goal. This teleological mindset occupies a central position in my methodology, and I always encourage my students to look ahead and plan a series of stimulating events or challenges to look foward to, such as a concert, a recital, a presentation or an exam.

Piano Lessons (Classical Music and Non classical), Music Theory, Harmony, Musical Arrangement, Composition
At my studio my students will not only learn how to play the piano, but they will receive a complete musical education in order to achieve their musical dreams. I will give all my best so everybody will get the tools for developing their own voice, helping them to master the instrument and teaching them all the theoretical knowledge they’ll need to make their particular personality shine. Openness, joy, dedication, creativity and passion for music are some of the things that you will find in the international environment of my studio. I care about who my students are and what they have to say to the world, and I will help them to develop it from the very first lesson. In my class you will not only be able to receive piano lessons but also will learn to understand how the music works as a language. If the interest and the profile of the student goes in the direction of the purely classical music performance, the lessons will be focused on a deep and conscious piano technique development, practicing techniques, musical interpretation, history of music, history of the piano, applied harmony on the keyboard, analysis, and score reading by a method that I have developed for over 15 years of experience. And if the students wish, I can help them to prepare for the ABRSM exams and competitions as well. All this is aiming to achieve in a very practical and exciting experience the best results in the fastest way possible. But if the profile and the interests of the students goes on another way, I will give them all the tools they need to understand the language of music in depth, so they can find their own voice on the instrument. In that case the lessons will include contents of piano technique, score reading, applied harmony on the keyboard, composition, improvisation, musical arrangement, music production, recording techniques, jazz and pop music analysis and performance. Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician. Hope you can join and if so, I’ll be very happy to teach you!

Private guitar lessons for every level: from basic chords to out of the box improvisation
Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions and I will answer as soon as possible. See you soon! Richard PS: my specified hours are a guideline, if this does not suit you, you can certainly send us a message and we will try to arrange something :)
