I started taking violin lessons at the age of 7. After years of training, I am currently continuing my violin studies at Utrecht Conservatory. I have also attended music theory classes for 6 years because it is very useful to have some knowledge of it when playing any instrument. The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject. Each student has different needs and different abilities. It's just a matter of getting to know the student, in order to identify both the weaknesses and strengths on which to work.

I want to base my lessons on playing the guitar and related instruments in a way that feels mastered and personal. I therefore want to focus on expression, technique and the aurally malleable nature of the instrument, for example by discussing extended techniques and the use of effect pedals. I want to invite the students to learn to listen carefully to the impact of different playing techniques and audio effects. During the lessons I want to cover different kinds of music theory, especially in an "applied" way that is valuable to the student. I also want to deal with recording and producing my own work. Owning your own effects pedals, a guitar amplifier or recording equipment is not required for this course.

I specialize on teaching Saxophone and Improvisation.This class is for people who want to learn more about jazz and improvisation in general. I focus on hearing and play music by imitation.My goal is to make the lesson as organic as possible and fun for the student.Of course in my class we will do also etudes and all the basic knowledge to built technique and develop on the instrument as well as theory, harmony and rhythm.

Hello there! My name is Vasilis and I am a jazz/rock/eastern traditional and classical guitar player, singer and songwriter currently studying as a 3rd year student in the Jazz and Pop guitar department of HKU conservatory. I am coming from Greece where I graduated from my first bachelor on classical guitar and the last three years I live, study, work and play in Utrecht. My teaching career started very early, 12 years ago when my classical guitar teacher let me teach my first student and since then I have worked in multiple music schools and in private lessons with students of every age. This year I also started giving my first band coaching group lessons. In my lessons I try to create a learning path that is formed arround the interests and taste of each student. Since I am a singer and songwriter the lessons can also focus on the creating part of music if of course the student is interested in that. I work with empathy and sensitivity arround the needs of each student. As for my playing career, I play with multiple bands on original songs of mine or covers in different venues and festivals in Europe. The genres differ between pop, jazz, rock, eastern traditional and blues so I can give a big variety of stylistic directions to each student. Last but not least, I am also a singer and because of my good performance in school, I was awarded from the HKU Conservatory the oportunity to follow the vocal curriculum of the school as well. As a graduate classical pianist and also experienced Jazz musician (currently studying Jazz/Pop Piano in HKU), I can help you work your way around a variety of genres and repertoire in order to achieve your personal goals and express yourself through the art of playing the piano. I can also help singers that want to accompany themselves the most convenient way and also people that would like to use the piano as a tool to write their own music. I use both my own material of sheets and notes that I create specifically for each student, but also several books and a variety of methods. Some basic music theory is usually integrated to the piano lessons I give, in order to have a more complete understanding of the practical concepts but it could also be taught separately.
