Tutoring for International Baccalaureate (IB) Maths AA HL/SL, Chemistry HL/SL, Physics HL/SL and for International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) International Mathematics (0607), Additional Mathematics (0606), Physics (0625) Chemistry (0620). I aim to make sure students understand material intuitively first before delving into complicated questions and foster a friendly and patient learning environment. Instead of relying on memorising formulas, I teach students how to derive the formulas themselves, build upon their previous knowledge and use them to solve complex questions in a simple way, building their confidence in the process. To facilitate this, I use metaphors and every-day things to construct stories that help students remember concepts and relationships between them. My lessons are tailored to each student's needs, preferences and learning style so I am able to accommodate specific requests. I can help students work on improving both overall understanding of the subject as well as detailed and thorough understanding of specific topics/sub-topics. As someone who sat these exams myself, I know what the most common mistakes in each topic are, the best exam techniques and have lots of tips, tricks and resources I can share! I offer flexible scheduling, with availability during the day, early mornings, and late evenings for lessons online or in-person lessons near South Kensington. Please message me before booking so we can find a time that works for both of us! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me :)

Are you struggling to keep up with your Biology content? Do you find it hard to understand complex biological concepts and theories? Look no further! I am here to help you achieve your academic goals and excel in biology. I am a highly qualified and experienced secondary science teacher who has a passion for teaching and a deep understanding of biology. I am well-versed in all aspects of biology, from cellular and molecular biology to ecology and evolution, and can explain difficult concepts in a clear and concise manner. I have 5 years of teaching all three secondary science subjects in KS3 and KS4, as well as 4 years of Biology A-level. Whether you need help with homework assignments, exam preparation, or just want to deepen your understanding of biology, I can provide personalised, one-on-one guidance and support. I will work with you to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and tailor their approach to your individual learning style and pace. I can use a variety of teaching methods and resources, such as interactive simulations, videos, and diagrams, to make the learning experience engaging and enjoyable. I am also patient, friendly, and approachable, and will create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Most of the lessons will follow this structure; 1. An Introduction, explaining the concept and its importance. 2. Inquiry-based activity: This could be a work sheet, mind map or data. 3. Experimentation: Should there be an experiment linked, we will explore its importance. 4. Data analysis: Once the experiments are completed, we will then analyse the data and make graphs or tables to show their results. We will have a discussion on the patterns and trends observed, and ask my student to explain the underlying biological mechanisms. 5. Concept mapping: To consolidate their understanding we will create a concept map or a mind map that summarises the main concepts and relationships involved in the process. 6. Closure: To wrap up the lesson, I will pose some open-ended questions to stimulate further reflection and inquiry. Then, finish with some exam style questions. By following these steps, I can create a student-centred, inquiry-based learning experience that combines hands-on experimentation, data analysis, and concept mapping with collaborative and reflective learning. This type of lesson can help the students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as a deeper understanding of the complex and fascinating world of biology.

Trusted teacher: Laying and consolidating the foundations of mathematics and science in middle and high school is essential to developing your children's reasoning skills, ensuring them every chance of success in their future studies... and obviously guaranteeing them very good results at the baccalaureate or patent and throughout the year! I am a young engineer with a recent double degree from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon and the Technical University of Denmark in general engineering and civil engineering, and I suggest you follow your children throughout the year to provide them with the basics , methods and in-depth studies that teachers do not always have the time to give to students. Having myself recently completed a scientific baccalaureate and a scientific preparatory class at the Lycée Saint Louis in Paris, I know the paths and states of mind (positive as well as negative!) of the students, and will help them progress effectively with kindness, good humor and patience. I have several years of experience in private lessons at all levels, including one in London, and have thus acquired teaching skills and knowledge of science programs from middle school to high school (including the new program). I prepare my lessons in advance, can provide schedules to students, and seek to create connections with them that allow us to move forward more quickly and with mutual trust. My goal is to provide good results, but above all to ensure a deep understanding of the concepts of the program, methods and scientific reasoning, as well as to teach students the rigor and logic essential to these subjects. These concepts are assets and tools that will be useful to your children throughout their studies and careers. With the last half of the year 2018-2019 severely disrupted by the health crisis, your children may have accumulated certain gaps that I can help to fill. I am very available for my students, have already provided a large number of distance lessons by Skype with great success. I like to know my students and establish relationships of trust with them, as equals, by providing friendly, educational and personalized support. I am very attentive and can happily help my students throughout the week and outside of class if they have questions about exercises or methods. My prices are commensurate with my investment, my educational experience and my qualifications, having accumulated 6 years of high-level scientific studies. I am very accommodating with schedules and can easily postpone classes if necessary. Do not hesitate to contact me; happy back to school! Alice

Trusted teacher: As the level of the courses increases over the years, taking advantage of a young student who has experience as a versatile private teacher is often a major asset to perform and then fly to great studies! First of all, when am I available? From September 2020, until 2023 if follow-up over several years is desired. What is my experience in private lessons? I have been giving private lessons for 5 years now. Throughout the last 3 years 2017-2020, I followed 2 students of the French Lycée Charles de Gaulle: a student from 5th to 3rd and a student from 2nd to 12th, at a rate of 2 and 3 hours per week respectively. I have pushed them both towards excellence, my students having averaged 20.5 and 18.7 on their patent and baccalaureate respectively. My final year student joined LSE for an excellent Bachelor in General Economics; and I had the opportunity to prepare him for this new stage by preparing him on certain prerequisite subjects of the Bachelor that the French program does not cover. I thus have a complete knowledge of the scientific programs from the 5th to the terminale, I am aware of the reform of the year 2020/2021, I was recently able to prepare students for the patent and the bac, and I know the systems leading to English universities as well as French preparatory classes. I also gave private lessons for 2 years in France, with high school students. I was also hired by Centrale Lyon for 1 year to tutor in physics for 1st year students. With the health crisis, between March and September 2020, I was also able to learn to take regular lessons by Skype while maintaining effective monitoring. Who am I? I am in September 2020/2021 in the 2nd year of my PhD at Imperial College London, working in biomechanics on a subject bringing together mathematics, chemistry, mechanical physics, computer science and biology. Initially, I come from a small provincial high school where I had my bac S in 2013 with the congratulations of the jury. I subsequently made preparations for Henri IV and Louis-Le-Grand in Paris. I have a double degree since 2019: Centrale Lyon in general engineering and Imperial College London for a master's degree in mechanics - civil engineering - biomechanics, for which I received the award of excellence. My current PhD takes me until 2023 on the South Kensington campus. And who am I as a teacher? - I am now 24 years old and my memories of my 13-17 years are still fresh: I understand most of the feelings of my students, feelings that I have known myself: stress, laziness, discouragement after a bad note, being overloaded with work and subjects ... I have always been on great terms with my students, which gives relaxed, funny and effective lessons, with confident students. - I'm honest and I like a job well done! I teach to help and get results, and I don't let go until it's done. - I am kind and very attentive: I keep abreast of the progress and results of my students, I encourage them and answer their questions by messages outside of class if they need it. What are my strengths? - I come out of a fresh experience with two students of different ages and characters, allowing me to adapt quickly, to quickly understand the difficulties (or the talent) and to adjust my teaching to each student. - Thanks to my 7 years of studies, I have a high level in the scientific subjects offered in secondary school, allowing me to give very clear and colorful explanations to help understanding. - My mother being a French teacher in high school, I have a good understanding of the teachers and how they work. - I train my students as much as I can to be rigorous in their working method, calculations and results reporting, with a view to good results but also to arrive in higher education with a solid background and working method . Do not hesitate to contact me, Looking forward to having once again the opportunity to make my students succeed in a good atmosphere, Wishing you a Happy New Year! Arnault
