I’m a professional violinist and composer, originally from Portugal. I lived in London for 12 years and I hold a Master of Music degree in Violin and Composition for Screen from the Royal College of Music, London. I provide Violin, Music Theory, and Composition lessons. I have been teaching for over 10 years, both privately and in schools. I have helped dozens of students achieve their goals in music, many of whom achieved Distinction in their music exams. I have an extensive orchestral experience and I write music for film and TV. I prepare students for ABRSM, Trinity or any other music conservatory exam in Violin and Music Theory. I can help students learn how to read music and to understand how music works, as opposed to a memory-based approach most music teachers follow. For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.
