The guitar has to be one of the most ubiquitous, played and taught instruments everywhere in the world for the last 4 decades. It is a staple of the sound of most popular genres. From Pop singers like Taylor Swift and Madonna, or Ed Sheeran, to bands like Coldplay, Metallica, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Guns N'Roses, Led Zeppelin or even Jazz groups, they all had at least one guitarist who once had to learn enough guitar to become relevant in music. That doesn't mean it's easy to learn. In fact, it's one of the most difficult ones. But how do you go about it then? Most of them will tell you (and rightfully so) they learnt on their own and that it's the best way. I agree. To a certain extent. I have been giving private music lessons and fortepiano for a long time. In addition to my classical music education in 2000, I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychopedagogy in 2006. This year I am interested in expanding my practice to include more students with special needs. I learned about the different ways music can help students with special needs. It helps them express their emotions and develop their memories and self-regulatory skills. It can show them strengths that they might not otherwise find during their school day. It can also open their eyes to a whole world of expression and beauty, enriching their lives.
