About Me

Greetings, I'm Maria, an ardent devotee of the musical arts. My journey commenced at the age of 7 with the piano, an instrument that has remained central to my musical odyssey. Through rigorous study and unwavering dedication, I attained degrees in piano performance, classical harmony, and Renaissance music, each milestone enriching my understanding and proficiency in the realm of music.

Driven by a thirst for exploration, I expanded my expertise by pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Turkish vocals at Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam. This endeavor broadened my musical horizons and deepened my appreciation for the diverse cultural tapestry of music.

With an Integrated Masters in Musicology from the esteemed National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, I delved into the academic intricacies of music, exploring its historical, cultural, and theoretical dimensions with scholarly rigor.

Awarded from the Mayor of Galatsi / Athens for my offering and contribution in the field of traditional Greek Music.

Drawing upon over 15 years of teaching experience, I am committed to imparting my knowledge and passion for music to aspiring learners. From vocals to piano, Makam theory to musicology, I offer comprehensive instruction tailored to the individual needs and aspirations of each student.

As an educator, I endeavor to instill not only technical proficiency but also a profound understanding and appreciation for the rich tapestry of musical traditions. Whether unraveling the complexities of classical harmony or delving into the mystique of Byzantine music, I am dedicated to nurturing the musical talents of tomorrow.

Together, let us embark on a journey of musical discovery, where every note becomes a stepping stone towards artistic fulfillment and expression.

I specialize in jazz and Brazilian repertoire, but I also teach Greek folk singing. The lessons are designed according to the needs of each student. Some of the focusing areas are listed below: 1. Vocal Technique: We focus on vocal technique elements such as breath control, vocal range, the use of all registers, and timbres of your voice. The goal is to sing effortlessly. With the vocal technique, you will get the chance to explore your voice and build confidence in your voice. 2. Repertoire: Together we can build your repertoire step by step and focus on the phrasing of each style. You will choose the repertoire you like and you can always ask for advice in case you want to explore new musical styles. A great time of enjoyment during classes where you will be singing your heart out! 3. Improvisation: Vocal improvisation is a great way to explore the voice and also express your feelings. It will also boost your creativity and musicality. Specific exercises can also guide you through this process step by step and in that way we will explore vocal improvisation. FOR CHILDREN (4-8 years old): I am specialized in music education for children 4-8 years old. Using the Orff Approach children will have a great creative time for themselves where they learn music by using their whole body. Experiencing and learning music through playing! Suggested Duration for Lessons for Children: 30-45min depending on the age. I am looking forward to starting an inspiring musical journey with you! Karolina

Music Lessons - Piano/Cello/Composition/Theory/Improvisation - Classical/Jazz/Contemporary
As a graduate of both Cello and Piano in the Conservatory in Spain, and a final-year student of Compostion at CODARTS Rotterdam, I can provide very solid an tailor-made explanations and guidance for the discovery, understanding, and practice of musical concepts - theoretical, instrumental, and compositional. I strongly believe that everyone has the capacity to express themselves creatively to the highest degree, whether it be playing already existing pieces, improvising, or composing, and have tested methods for teaching how to read, write, integrate, and play around with musical information in my practice as a teacher in a Music School in Hoogvliet for the past 2 years. Teaching music and sharing my knowledge and approach to it has been something i've been drawn to all my life. I believe that every student deserves an individual way of explaining and practicing different ideas suitable for their own experience and personality. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that I had growing up of being taught by some of the most respected music pedagogues in Spain and am very excited to be able to share with other people, regardless of the scope of their expectations within music. Please feel free to reach out for any question you might have!

CLARINET - Improvisation - Music Theory - Music Understanding
SPECIALISED IN TEACHING ADULTS. Would you like to learn one of the instruments which have more style possibilities? Would you like to know why many composers say that is a very powerful instrument because it fits in may situations? Did you know that in the Klezmer history clarinet substituted the violin for projection reasons but also because perfectly able to imitate the human voice, crying or laughing? Would you like to discover the fascinating world of clarinet? One of my priorities as a musician is the sound. I believe that with a beautiful and personal sound you are able at every level to transmit emotion and meaning, it doesn’t matter the difficulty or the level. So I try to focus first on awareness of what’s beautiful for the student and what’s not. Then through technique and repertoire (suggestions of the student or suggestions of mine that can help to grow the student curiosity), we develop the student knowledge. Always helping the student to understand -depending on his/her the theoretical level- what we are doing, putting together music and theory. And giving tools to expand the border, at all levels. I have knowledge and experience in Jazz, Classical, Klezmer, Choro Music and Improvisation. You just need a precious element! • Music Theory I focus on having a good basics, spending as much as we need to understand every single thing, because then with times it becomes more easy. I try to help the student simplifying the material because then, we only with ourselves with a good procedure of the basics to solve any problem. Only with one lesson, you will understand what I mean. I have experience in preparing students for exams, the ones for the semester as well as any official exam; doesn't matter if you have an intermediate theory level and you want to improve, or if you would like to be stronger solidifying the knowledge you have (which is always the best option), or if you don’t know anything about notes and music concepts and you would like to be familiar with them. Maybe you are an adult who always wanted to improvise but doesn’t know where to start...? The only thing you need is a good organization -which I can provide- to reach any goal!

Fun piano classes with experienced teacher for children and adults
Music is a really beautiful art to learn. As a musician, I want my students to have a good experience and minimmum knowledge to develop new skills and learn new instruments. I am currently studying for music teacher at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and with experience in piano and bassoon teaching. I'm looking forward to develop new music classes where both me and the students can have a lot of fun with piano. I like to teach through a lot of games and music creation, and I'm always looking for new and creative ways of teaching. If you are just starting with the piano, we will focuse on playing without reading scores, which I will introduce later on. I like to work on pieces and songs that my students chose, so everyone feels confortable!

Enrico
Hello everybody, my name is Enrico and I’m an italian drummer and percussionist based in Rotterdam. Let's drum together!
Are you a beginner? I'll be glad to help you discovering this beautiful instrument! I'll show you the necessary steps you need to follow in order to play that crazy rhythm you have in mind and, please don't forget: "HAVE FUN" is mandatory! You'll learn how to move your limbs to play a nice drum groove, you'll discover the rudiments on the snare-drum which later you will start apply to the drumset. You will learn to recognize which instruments in the drumset makes you fall in love for the drum beat of your favorite tune. Also you will learn how to read rhythm and a drum score! Very soon you'll be playing along your favorite song!Let's get it started!!! Have you played for a while and you would like to improve your skills and to learn new rhythms? Good!I'll do my best to help you improving your actual skills. Together, we'll look at the diverse hand and foot techniques exist as tools to improve our own sound on the drumset. Remember that it's not about speed, but awareness of our gestures and how these can influence the sound we won't project through this marvellous instrument. Have you ever heard of "Finger Control", Moeller Technique", "Push and Pulll", "Heel-Toe Technique"? Probably your tired of the usual 4/4 rock drum beat and you would like to learn more spicy drum grooves...well I can show you very nice drum beat influenced by latin music. You could find very fun and interesting excercies for improving your coordination while learing intriguing drum beats! But also...you are a fan of progressive music but you're having troubles playing that weird odd-meter...I'll show you how simple and easy can be to play that 5/8! Do you have a solid rhythmic fundation and you want to get in touch with Jazz or Latin music? Learning a language, especially if you are not a mother-tongue, is very hard. Generally I believe that to learn how to express yourself through your instrument is a life-long learning process. For this reason don't worry and keep having fun every day!I've left the harbour for this journey some years ago and I still see the line of the horizon very far...Why don't you get on my boat? I can show you the first steps you need to take for applying your technical skills and coordination in these styles. We can listening to recordings and to check how the drummer accompanies his band mates, how he expresses his solo ideas. We can transcribe comping ideas, solo ideas, and of course I'll show the approach I use to learn and to digest this information to make it mine. I'm really looking forward to your questions and to discover new recordings with you!
